About
Derrin Compton has extensive experience working as an objects conservator in private practice and in the museum setting. He specializes in ceramics and related materials, including glass, plaster, stone, etc.
Derrin holds the peer-reviewed Professional Member designation through the American Institute of Conservation (AIC). He has worked at several private practices including Nzilani Glass Conservation, Preservation Arts, and Carolina Conservation. He has completed internships at the Glenstone Museum, the Michael C. Carlos Museum, and the Birmingham Museum of Art.
Derrin earned an MA in Conservation Studies from West Dean College of Arts and Conservation where he studied the Conservation of Ceramics and Related Materials.
He has been awarded the Trustees' Prize for Conservation in 2019 and the BADA Geoffrey Moss Prize in 2018. Derrin also earned an MA in Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Arts and Design and a BA in Studio Art from Winthrop University.
